EasyRotator KnowledgeBase – Accessing the debug_WPAPI.xml Log File
When a WordPress Communication API error occurs while using EasyRotator for WordPress (usually when attempting to upload a rotator), details about the problem are recorded in a special log file. Support staff may request that you send this file to help in determining the problem you're experiencing. This article describes how to access this log file.
In recent versions of the editor application, you can access the debug_WPAPI.xml log file by selecting File > Debugging Preferences in the top-left corner of the editor, then using the Dump to Desktop option:
There will then be a debug_WPAPI.xml file on your desktop; send this file to support.
If you're using an older version of the editor application, you won't see the Dump to Desktop option. Instead, you'll need to access the file directly on your hard drive. First, you may need to reveal hidden files; once hidden files are visible, you'll be able to access the following file:
- Windows: C:/Users/<username>/AppData/Roaming/com.dwuser.erwizard.EasyRotatorWizard/Local Store/debug_WPAPI.xml
- Mac: /Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/com.dwuser.erwizard.EasyRotatorWizard/Local Store/debug_WPAPI.xml
Send this log file to support.
